How this list is compiled

Editorial

WHAT THIS IS. Every monument in Jaipur district on the Archaeological Survey of India's register of protected monuments. It is complete as against its source, not a selection: no cut-off, no editorial choice about what to include, and no ranking. WHY NOT A "TOP TEN". Because no such ranking exists that this publication compiled. Reprinting a travel guide's ordering under our masthead would be that guide's editorial judgement wearing our name. A complete designation list is more useful anyway — it is exhaustive, and every entry carries ASI's own identifier so it can be checked. ORDER. Alphabetical, carrying no judgement of significance, condition, or visitor interest. THE TWO REGISTERS ARE SEPARATE. India protects monuments at two levels, and this site keeps them apart because the designating authority is a real distinction rather than a technicality. A monument on the national register is not "better" than one on the state register; it is protected by a different government under a different instrument. SOURCE AND ITS STANDARD. Transcribed from a published list of the register, reproducing the identifiers the register publishes. Under this site's sourcing standard (amendment 2, 2026-07-31) an aggregated source may back a published claim; claims resting only on one are marked as such on the page. WHAT IS ASSERTED PER ENTRY. The monument's name, its identifier, the district it sits in, and where recorded its location. No date, dynasty, architectural attribution, or condition is claimed, because the source does not support one.
