Corrections

Anyone recorded here may contest a claim. A contested claim is marked disputed on its own page rather than removed; a correction to a list or to a register’s shared method is logged where that text lives, and every such line appears here, dated and permanent.

  1. Panchayat Samitisthe register's shared method

    • 2026-09-25 — Two statements in this method were amended. It called the 33-district panchayati raj map "current"; Rajasthan began reorganising its panchayat samitis in 2025, and the ministry's register, re-read today and unchanged since August, shows no result of that yet, so the method now says what the register holds and what it may not. It also set that map against "the 50" districts of the administrative map; there have been 41 since nine were dissolved in December 2024.
    • 2026-09-25 — Each district list opened "Every panchayat samiti in … district" and answered "… district is divided into N panchayat samitis", and each samiti's own page called it "one of the N panchayat samitis" of its district. All three now say what the ministry's register records, in English and in Hindi, for the reason given in the line above.
    • 2026-09-25 — The method said no primary source had yet confirmed the 2025 reorganisation. The State Election Commission's own orders do: 41 zila parishads, and panchayat samitis named on that 41-district map. They are now cited in the method.
    • 2026-09-25 — The register moved from the Ministry of Panchayati Raj's block register (361 samitis, 33 zila parishads) to the State Election Commission's order for the 2026 elections (457 samitis, 41 zila parishads). It added 100 samitis and moved 49 to another district with their addresses unchanged; the 4 the order does not carry — Ganganagar (Sri Ganganagar), Hanumangarh (Hanumangarh), Khemli (Udaipur), Sam (Jaisalmer) — left the lists, and their pages remain. Where a samiti moved, its earlier district claim was withdrawn and replaced by one citing the order. English names for samitis the ministry does not yet list are this site's transliteration.
    • 2026-09-29 — Gudhamalani and Dhorimanna moved from Barmer's list to Balotra's, and Baytoo from Balotra's to Barmer's. Order 5101 of 26 December 2025 placed them as they were; the Revenue Department's notification of 31 December 2025 moved them, and the State Election Commission's electoral-roll download page lists them in their new districts. Their earlier district claims were withdrawn.

  2. Urban Local Bodiesthe register's shared method

    • 2026-09-29 — The register moved from an encyclopaedia's list (240 bodies, a mixed district map, no figures) to the State Election Commission's list of the bodies it holds elections for (309 bodies on the 41-district map, each with its wards). The lists now rank by wards, largest first; before, they followed the old list's order and ranked nothing. Every body already published keeps its address. Its district claim citing the encyclopaedia was withdrawn and replaced by one quoting the commission; for bodies that moved district, the old claim was no longer true.
    • 2026-09-29 — The method first said bodies with equal wards were ordered by class, corporation first. Every ranked list on this site breaks a tie alphabetically, and three district lists could not publish on the other rule; ties are now alphabetical, and the method says so.

    • 2026-07-28 — Renamed from "The Marwari Business Families of Shekhawati". Two of the six families in the first edition, Modi and Bangur, rest on a sentence that names them as Marwari business houses without placing them in Shekhawati; the regional claim in the title was not supported for them. The URL is unchanged, so existing links keep working.
    • 2026-07-28 — Bajaj, Goenka and Neotia added, on a second source: Forbes India's "Marwari Power" survey. Ranks shifted accordingly, which on an alphabetical list carries no meaning.
    • 2026-07-28 — Bhartia, Jindal, Kajaria, Khaitan, Piramal, Poddar and Surana added from Forbes India's "Top 100 Listed Marwari-Owned Companies" (March 2014), each where the business group carries the family's own name. The table is published as images rather than text, and its rows were read by eye; that is recorded in the methodology rather than left implicit.

  11. The Marwari Sweet Ledger2026 edition

    • 2026-07-27 — Feeni and Churma Ladoo retracted. Both rested on sources this site does not cite, and no replacement exists in the citable record.
    • 2026-07-27 — Ghevar and Mawa Kachori re-cited from confectionery-brand marketing pages to a news report, and their descriptions cut back to what that report supports.

  12. The Marwaris Who Built Modern Indian Industry2026 edition

    • 2026-07-27 — Ramdutt Goenka retracted from rank 1. His 1820 founding year came from Grokipedia, an AI-generated encyclopaedia, and no citable source supports that date or his individual Marwari identity.
    • 2026-07-27 — G. D. Birla's rank year corrected from 1919 to 1918, and his entry rewritten. The previous text stated he "established Birla Jute Mills in 1918 and formed Birla Brothers Limited the following year", which reversed the two events as the Aditya Birla Group's own history records them.
    • 2026-07-27 — Every citation on this list replaced. All were previously Wikipedia or Grokipedia, neither of which this site cites.
    • 2026-07-27 — What the ranking measures was corrected. The list described itself as ordering founders by "the earliest documented establishment of each house", but the entries record each man's own earliest documented enterprise, which is a different thing. The Birla house dates to 1857 and G. D. Birla ranks at 1918. The description has been corrected to match the entries; no rank changed.

  13. The Richest Indians2026 edition

    • Retracted 2026-08-01. This was a national ranking published on a site about Rajasthan and the Marwari community — the wrong list for this publication, as its own methodology acknowledged. It is replaced by The Richest Marwaris (/lists/richest-marwaris), where every entry carries a sentence identifying that person as Marwari. Nothing about the figures was wrong; the scope was.
