Privacy
This site is a Section 8 non-profit. It carries no advertising, sells nothing, and passes no reader’s data to anyone for money. What it does collect is described below in full, and you can refuse all of it without losing access to anything.
What is collected, and only with your agreement
This site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages readers reach. It does not run until you accept the notice shown at the foot of the page. If you decline, or simply ignore the notice, no request is made to Google at all — the analytics script is never loaded rather than loaded in a restricted mode.
If you accept, Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and sends Google the page you are on, a timestamp, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and general details of your browser and device. Your IP address is anonymised before storage. Google is the data processor for this and holds it on its own infrastructure under its privacy policy.
What is deliberately not collected
Your search terms never reach Google.This site publishes pages about named, living people, and what you search for here is nobody’s business but yours. The query string is stripped from every page address before it is reported, so a search for a person’s name is recorded as a visit to /search and nothing more.
The administrative area of the site is excluded from measurement entirely, because its addresses contain the identifiers of unpublished drafts.
There is no advertising identifier, no cross-device tracking, and no ad personalisation: Google Signals and ad personalisation signals are switched off both in the code and in the property’s settings. There are no other third-party scripts, no social media pixels, no session recording, and no heatmaps.
Changing your mind
Your answer is stored in your own browser, not in a cookie sent to us. Clearing your browser’s site data for marwaris.com forgets it, and the notice will ask again. Declining a second time is as effective as the first; nothing about refusing is made deliberately tedious.
Browser-level protections work too. If you block analytics scripts, use a content blocker, or send Global Privacy Control, nothing here attempts to circumvent that.
Accounts
Almost everything here is readable without an account. Signing in is required only for the editorial tools, and those accounts exist for people who work on the record. Authentication is handled by Clerk, which stores the email address and name you sign up with. Editorial accounts are not used for analytics or marketing, and there is no newsletter you are subscribed to by signing in.
Being written about
A separate and more important question than analytics: this site publishes sourced claims about named people. Anyone written about here may contest a claim. Contested claims are marked as disputed rather than quietly removed, and corrections are published, dated and permanent. Write to editor@marwaris.com.
This site does not publish personal contact details, home addresses or schedules for any person, and will not do so on request from third parties.
