How this list is compiled
Editorial
WHAT THIS IS. The administrative districts of Rajasthan, each with the division it belongs to, its area in square kilometres, and its population. WHY THERE ARE THREE DISTRICT LISTS ON THIS SITE. "The Districts of Rajasthan" is districts holding a protected monument, on the pre-2023 map. "The Districts of Rajasthan, Current Map" is districts holding an assembly constituency, on the post-2023 map. This one is the administrative list the other two are approximations of. Each is complete against its own source and none is complete against the others, so all three are published and each names the source and map it belongs to. Merging them would mean asserting a district boundary no source here supports. THIS IS NOT A RANKING. Alphabetical. The area and population against each district are facts about the district, not a score, and the list is deliberately not ordered by either — a ranked figure on this site must trace to a filing-grade source, and this one does not.
Frequently asked
- What decides the order?
- This list is ranked on a editorial basis — see the methodology above for what that means for this list specifically.
- What counts as a source?
- Only a citation that is inline and expanded on the ranked subject's own page — never a source cited on this list alone.
- Why might an entry be missing?
- A rank is withdrawn, not renumbered, when the subject it named is no longer published. The gap stays visible rather than being closed.
- How often does this list change?
- A new dated edition, not a silent edit, is how the ranking itself changes.
