Methodology · Rajasthan's Sitting Members of the Rajya Sabha
How this list is compiled
Editorial
WHAT THIS IS. Rajasthan's current representation in the Council of States — every member the House's own register flags as sitting for the state. WHY THE TERMS ALL END AT DIFFERENT TIMES. The Rajya Sabha is never dissolved. A third of it retires every two years, so Rajasthan's ten seats run on staggered six-year cycles and no two need expire together. That is why this page exists instead of a list per House: there is no "current Rajya Sabha" to enumerate, only the members sitting at a given moment. ORDER. By the start of the term the register records, earliest first. A sequence, not a ranking. WHEN THIS PAGE GOES STALE. The moment a term expires. It is a snapshot of the register on the date of the import, and the register itself is the live version. WHAT IS DELIBERATELY NOT HERE. No address, telephone number, e-mail address, date of birth or family detail, all of which the register publishes and none of which belongs on a page about a living person. No gender column, no caste column, and no characterisation of anybody. WHAT THIS LIST DOES NOT SAY. It does not say that anybody on it is Marwari. This site never assigns ethnicity to anyone; it records what a published source has said, with a link, and the register cited here says nothing on the subject. These are the people Rajasthan sent to Parliament, which is a fact about the state, not about a community. SOURCE AND ITS STANDARD. The Rajya Sabha's own member register, published by the Rajya Sabha Secretariat at sansad.in — the state's own record of its own membership. Every claim on this page rests on it and on nothing else. That register is a tier-A source, so these pages meet this site's STRICT sourcing standard — the "record" standard of the original charter, under which only a filing, a disclosure, the state's own record or named-byline journalism may back a published claim. The site's current standard is looser than that and would have accepted an encyclopaedia; this dataset does not use the latitude, and no claim here is marked "aggregated source". Pages about named, mostly living people are the wrong place to spend a relaxation. Each member's citation quotes their row in the register, transcribed under the register's own column headings, so every value on this page can be found again in the document at the cited URL. No citation carries an archive snapshot: the seeder's citation type has no field for one, which is a gap in the tooling rather than a judgement about this source.
Frequently asked
- What decides the order?
- This list is ranked on a editorial basis — see the methodology above for what that means for this list specifically.
- What counts as a source?
- Only a citation that is inline and expanded on the ranked subject's own page — never a source cited on this list alone.
- Why might an entry be missing?
- A rank is withdrawn, not renumbered, when the subject it named is no longer published. The gap stays visible rather than being closed.
- How often does this list change?
- A new dated edition, not a silent edit, is how the ranking itself changes.
